I was in California a few months ago and recieved a parking ticket. (Now i was told that if you are unattached from a trailer and you are in the sleeper with the curtains closed then it is no longer a commercial vehicle it is your home) Anyways I was parked on the street and there were no signs out on the street saying no parking or no truck parking, I wasnt parked in a red zone or in front of a fire hydrant, and there were 2 other trucks parked on the same street and they didnt recieve a parking ticket I wanna know why was I targeted and got a parking ticket? Which is a bunch of F ingBS. I just wanted to know if I over pay a ticket of anykind in Cali what happens? (because I was told if you overpay the ticket for like $10-15 bucks more and they cash it you can sue their sorry butts for fraud)[/quote]

You were told wrong. It's still a commercial vehicle, the person that told you this may have been confused and thinking of the "policy" that they're not supposed to wake you up when the curtains are closed because that would disrupt your federally mandated 10 hour break.

I don't know the location of this travesty of justice but I do know that many communities especially in SoCal have parking prohibitions for commercial vehicles especially in the wee hours of the morning. Frequently there will be no signs posted on any given street however at the city line as you cross into the city there will be a sign stating the policy. Many of the cities in Orange county are this way. About 10 years ago I got a ticket while I was sleeping on State College Blvd. a few blocks south of the 91 freeway in Anaheim. It was taped to the driver's side mirror when I woke up. Doggone thing cost almost $100.

Well, 'bout the only reason I can think of as to why he targeted you and not the others is he was possibly a decedent of Capt. James Cook and hates Hawaiians for killing his ancestor in 1779. LOL

I know it's that way in Carson, CA. We've spent many a night there in "no truck parking" areas. Most of the streets are signed that way, but we've always taken our chances. I know guys who've gotten tickets in the area (we generally go to Wilmington Ave and turn south, go past Spires Restaurant (great place to eat and a couple short term trucks okay parking spots out front), and turn right and go back in there somewhere.

Like I said, you're not allowed to park there. But guys do it all the time.
