I got a ticket...for me and the company. It has my name on it and theirs. This is my first ticket of this kind. I got the ticket for failing to have 'Oregon Weight Receipt and Tax Identifier' while traveling in Oregon. There is no way I will pay this (company will have reimburse me) as I called and asked the company if I needed this and how to get it. I was told by the company that I didn't have to have the piece of paper. That was a $427 wrong answer. You do have to have the piece of paper if you don't actually have the receipt filed before entering the state.
On the upside... the officers were nice to me when they wrote out the ticket. They even gave me the fax number at the next truck stop to get the receipt. And, I learned something.
My question is... will this be on MY record? The company is on their own with this from my view.
And... I'm thinking information about the 'Oregon Weight Receipt and Tax Identifier' should be added into Oregon info on this site...because I looked for it there before I got this ticket. All I had to do was call 503-378-6699 (24/7) and give them my info(co,dot#,trk#,and basic trip info) and pay $80 on my credit card to be legal for the trip in and out. |

You said you paid eighty bucks for the Permit or to be Legal thru Oregon yet you still got a ticket??
Sounds like a sad company to me saying your on your own.
I wouldn't pay it either however if the Company will not pay it then it WILL appear against your License, like a no show in court, however I'm not certain of anything Trucking related anymore.
There are other folk here: scoobiesuz, Russellmania, Radiomanmcb, that may have a more positive answer for you.
I'll check some sources and git bach to ya. _________________ All Women are Ladies till they prove otherwise. |

Does your company have a permit department? If so it should come back on them.
If the company will not pay it, then yea more than likely they will go after you, and it will most likely show up.
I would not have paid anything, out of my pocket like that without prior authorization. They may not want to reimburse you now.
The reason I say this, is I had to put fuel in one time out of my cash money, and the company still owes me for it. It was an unauthorized purchase..
Maybe some others will jump in after while and give you a better answer. _________________ Truck Drivers News |

Vehicle Permits
Section 803.600
Scroll down since it starts on page 92.
Is this then something you're already aware of??
This is the best I could do. _________________ All Women are Ladies till they prove otherwise. |

Thanks Blank and Radioman.
Oregon is a land of its own! They do not participate in the IFTA (International Fuel Tax Association). The officer at the port of entry where I got the ticket said that KY, NM and some parts of the state of NY also do not participate. I think that in any state other than Oregon though, you can buy it in the state. But in Oregon, the problem is that even though your base plate (cab card) may say you are okay to drive in the state you need to pay taxes for the miles you are going to drive in the state BEFORE you drive them (If I'm understanding this all correctly).
Small company... permit department doesn't exist. And yes, after I got the ticket before I would move the truck I told the company I would call and get the 'permit' just so I was sure it was done(what can I say...didn't trust them to do it). I had asked the officer if I could get another ticket and was told that I would if I had not had the problem corrected. I wasn't going any where until I was sure. The 'company' had already told me I was okay the day before I got the ticket when I'd asked about it. And, yes. That was probably my last run for them.
But my question is... that if the ticket is paid... will it be on my driving record? Wonder how I can find this out. I had searched for days trying to find info on traveling in WA and OR before I went out there and missed this (nobody ever asked to see my $240 chains I bought for the occasion). So I'm thinking I'm probably going to have to lawyer-up just to get my questions answered. |

Or,KY,NM AND NY still have that old antiquated ton tax. With NY, AND KY
those are filed 1/4ly by your company or yourself if your an O/O
NM you can either pay at the POE or sign up for the permit on
line and pay 1/4ly which is cheaper.
You didn't say if you were an O/O or company driver. If your a
company driver permits are their responsibility. I am an O/O and
the company I am leased to I use their permits for a fee. But am
respnsible for all taxes.
There is a chance it will show up on your driving record. There shouldn't
be any points against your license. I've got a couple of over weight
tickets on my record and it has not effected my points or insurance
premiums. _________________
