Virginia Weigh Stations Truck Scales

Virginia recently began referring to weigh stations as Motor Carrier Service Centers. That is now their official term for weigh station.

PrePass trucks that receive a green light in Virginia must still enter an open weigh station if they are pulling an oversize/overweight (even permitted) load.

The Virginia fuel tax rate is $0.196 per gallon of diesel fuel. Localities that are part of the Northern Virginia Transportation District (or districts that neighbor the included localities) levy a 2% sales tax on fuel.

There are a TA and Pilot just before I 81 3 miles west of the scales, if you come up on the scale to find it is open, there is a business park on the right (East Park Commerce Center) that should be large enough to turn around in- it is .5 miles east of the scale

Hollins Weigh Station (Roanoke) – 11 nb sb Virginia Weigh Station Truck Scales
Locals say this scale is open fairly often. This is one scale that weighs trucks in both directions- but it is better set up to weigh northbound trucks. 2.4 miles north of the scale there are a Pilot and a TA, 3.1 miles south of the scale there may be truck parking at the Hardees (just south of route 115). If you are headed southbound and find the scales are open, just north of the scale to the east there is a sign for Vista Corporate Park which may be big enough to turn around in- also there is a Virginia Truck Center dealership/repair shop just north of the scale.

This is a pullout area with no physical building. Signs at the Lynchburg weigh station say “No Stopping, No Parking.” There are two fuel stops in Forest on route 460 west of route 29. There is a medium-sized truck stop (Exxon) in Goodview on route 460 west of route 29.
